“We Were Liars” by E. Lockhart is a young adult novel about a girl named Cadence.

Cadence is the first granddaughter of the very wealthy family, the Sinclaires.

Every summer, she and her family go to her grandparents private island and enjoy a nice vacation. But, one year, everything changes.

Cadence changes everything about herself, her once-blonde hair is dyed black, she begins to suffer from migraines, and more.

Throughout the book, readers meet her aunt’s stepson: Gat, with whom she falls in love, and her two cousins, Mirren and Johnny. When they all meet again during summer seventeen, which means that Cadence is seventeen, Cadence begins to notice others changes happening within her family.

Her grandfather is completely reconstructing the main house on the island when there really wasn’t a need; her aunt is walking alone at night crying, and other things.

I can’t say anything else without revealing one of the biggest plot twists so you will just have to finish the book yourself.
