The Farmington High School Baseball C Team and junior varsity officially finished the season April 29, playing Bloomfield and Piedra Vista respectively.

The Varsity team finished up its season May 12-14 at the state tournament.

“I feel like we have underachieved a little bit this year,” Sean Trotter, Baseball coach at Farmington High said. “Heading into the post season, a few W’s changed.”

The baseball record for the 2016-2017 season was 13-13.

According to Trotter, there is not just one MVP on the team.

“If the best player out there is successful, it most likely because he and the sixteen others helped him to achieve that success,” Trotter explained.

Eathan Secrest, a senior baseball player who has been playing baseball for fifteen years, was inspired by his dad to pursue the sport.

Secrest said his dad pushes him to do his best by getting better, “in anyway possible, and knowing that hard work will equal success.”

The season was “good and rough,” Secrest added. “Everyone contributed to the cause.”

The one favorite thing Secrest enjoys about baseball is that it is “unique” which “every pitch matters, at bat, and all plays.”

Trotter added that he hopes to evolve every year as a coach and hopes to find a way to help get players to feel a sense of pride in being a Scorpion.
